Turbo Ghana is considering to support a small number of people starting businesses, typically in professions including builder, electrician, tailor, and tiler. Other trades are considered too. The deadline for applying is 31 October 2025. You can complete the form on a computer or on paper, and you can email it to info@turboghana.org or give it to Hon. Kwasi Alare. Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed in October or November 2025.

You should have substantial previous experience in the area of the business you want to start. For example, you might have completed a successful apprenticeship, or worked for some years in the trade that you want to start a business in. Please give as much detail as you can on the form. If you don’t give details, we will not be able to evaluate your suitability and you will not be invited to interview.

Do I have to have completed an apprenticeship in the business I intend to start? Having completed an apprenticeship is definitely an advantage, but might not be essential. Your attitude, aptitude, and prior experience also very important.

Do I have to have experience? Yes. You must have worked in the trade that you intend to start a business in.

In what area can my business be practiced? Anywhere in or in the vicinity of Mampong and Nsuta.

What if I already have a job or business? You can apply to expand or improve your business if you have concrete plans and requirements.

Are there age or gender restrictions? No.

When can I start? If your application is successful, you can probably start in December 2025.

How does Turbo Ghana monitor the business’s performance? We will actively monitor your performance. Our support is likely to be scheduled against your performance targets. We will discuss this with you at the time we make an offer.

Why is Turbo Ghana doing this? To support youth opportunities in Ghana.

How many business starters are there? Turbo Ghana has supported one business so far. We may add another 1-2 in November. So there are not many, and therefore you need to write a convincing application.

What does Turbo Ghana pay for? It depends on your business’s needs. For example, it might be stock, equipment, tools, or rent of premises.

Should my business make a profit? Yes, we want to help you develop a profit-making business. Ideally, your plans should include employing other people. Your business should become self-sustainable.

Does Turbo Ghana retain ownership of the items I buy with its money? Yes, initially we do retain ownership, and we will retrieve the items if you stop operating your business. Once we determine your business is successful we will hand over ownership to you.

Can I apply for a business starter and also an apprenticeship? No, they are intended for people at different career stages. The business starter is for people that have already completed an apprenticeship or have substantial experience in their trade.

Do I have to complete the application form? Yes, we will only consider you if you have completed the application form correctly. You can write a covering letter or attach more information if you want.

When should I submit the form? You must submit it by the deadline, which is 31 October 2025.

Do I need a computer or phone to complete the application form? No, you can ask Hon. Kwasi Alare to give you a paper form, and you can complete it with pen. If you have a computer or phone or you can go to an internet cafe, we will be very pleased if you complete it by typing your answers.

Evaluation process

Your application will be reviewed by a panel consisting of Hon. Kwasi Alare, and the three Turbo Ghana trustees (Mark Ryan, Michele Foot, and Natasha Ryan). If you pass the first stage, you will be invited to interview in November 2025. The interview panel will consist of Hon. Kwasi Alare and Mark Ryan, and possibly one other person.
