Turbo Ghana is exploring the possibility developing NFTs, in collaboration with Maxity.io.
In discussion with Maxity colleagues, we have gathered the following features that we think make a good NFT:
Story: The NFT should tell a story related to the purpose of the donation.
Celebrity connection: If we can connect with celebrities (e.g., youtubers seeking partnerships), this can help our NFT go viral.
Donor bragging rights: The NFT should be tweetable and facebookable.
Gamification and collectability: NFTs exist in a collection with limited availability. People make an effort to acquire the NFT they are missing from their collection.
The idea is to capture the change brought about by a project. In this case, the proposed project is to build a school in a remote community called Kontonho, which is a satellite community of Aframano village. Kontonho has about 30 houses, with a further 50 houses near it; the total population is about 500 people.
Currently, children have to walk two hours to school in Aframano, and then two hours back. Kontonho has a makeshift school for very young children unable to undertake the walk; it is made of sticks and wood collected from the forest. Our project is to build a 3-room school building, comprising kindergarten, primary 1, and primary 2 years.
Undoubtedly this animated GIF can be improved by a good designer.
We ask a celebrity to pose in front of their school, and we pair this with a child (or teacher) in Ghana posing in front of their school. The celebrity and the child should adopt a similar pose, and the buildings should also be in a similar pose. The photos should be beautiful.
Again, the implementation of this idea can be improved by a good designer.
We capture the change brought about by building a borehole. Here, the first image is of the Aframano water source in 2017, before the borehole was built; and the second image is of the borehole in 2020.
This transition could also be implemented as an animated GIF, morphing the first photo to the second one, like this:
As above, but the animation is a bit different:
Ideas 1-3 all show actual photographs taken in Aframano and its surrounding communities. NFTs are often based on more abstract, cartoonified pictures.
This transition could also be implemented as an animated GIF, morphing the first photo to the second one.
